EXPERIENCE SUMMARY
PROFESSIONAL
Mr. Grant is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Energy & Sustainability Division of Keating Environmental. He is responsible for the business development and technical aspects of energy engineering, LEED green building design, renewable energy and high performance building design projects. His 18 years of engineering and financial experience includes professional engineering services in commercial, industrial, institutional and residential building projects. He has overseen the design/analysis of over 30 MW of solar photovoltaic projects, over 1,300 tons of ground source heat pump systems, over 3,000,000 square feet of energy audits, over 500,000 square feet of retro-commissioning projects and has created Carbon Neutrality plans for major universities and colleges. His financial experience, as the founder of his own financial firm, includes venture capital investing, project finance and financial management for firms in the energy efficiency and renewable energy fields. His venture capital experience includes a variety of equity and debt investments in different company structures. His project finance experience includes detailed proforma models utilizing both financial and engineering parameters. His management experience includes formation of all types of US companies for international and US clients, CFO duties for selected portfolio companies, NASD Financial & Operations Principal and working closely with legal, accounting and audit professionals. Additionally, he worked closely with state and local officials to assist portfolio companies to obtain state and local grants and low interest loans.
REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS
- Energy Auditing and Master Energy Planning
Performend Master Energy Planning services for Luzerne County, PA; Lower Merion, PA; Bensalem Township, PA
and the Burlington County Bridge Commission, NJ. The planning documents included Strategic Energy Plans (energy
audits of facilities), Employee Behavioral and Purchasing Manuals and Contracting Best Management Practices
Manuals. Energy Audits included utility bill analysis, benchmarking, Energy Star ratings, building modeling for energy
and water usage, energy conservation measures and life cycle costing analysis.
- Carbon Neutrality Study/Greenhouse Gas Inventories
Co-authored the Carbon Neutrality Study for The College of New Jersey, Rider University and Berkeley College.
These studies documented the technical and financial requirements to achieve their stated carbon neutrality goals.
Prepared and verified the Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 Emissions Inventory and prepared the technical and financial
aspects of the Carbon Neutrality Plan. The technical aspects included renewable energy evaluations, alternative fuel
evaluations and energy conservation measures including central ground source heat pumps. Prepared Greenhouse
Gas Inventory for Drexel University including both direct and indirect emissions.
- Commissioning/Retro-Commissioning
Provided Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning services for private academy in Ewing, NJ and Carpenter’s
Union facility in Delaware. Academy project is registered for LEED and is striving for LEED Gold for three academic
buildings and LEED for Homes for the residences. Retro-commissioned 4 federal courthouses in MA, VT,
ME for the GSA to achieve maximum operational and energy efficiency. Energy measures identified included control
system upgrades, lighting and lighting control retrofits, renewable energy systems and HVAC upgrades.
- Solar Photovoltaic Projects
Developed and oversaw design of over 30 MW of solar projects in NJ, PA, NH and MD. Responsible for all proforma
work, conceptual design evaluation, proposal writing and contracts for these development efforts. Work included
coordination between the various design professionals, solar energy yield analysis, cost estimating and financial
analysis. In addition, has worked with developers, lawyers, accountants and financial parties to create the required
legal documentation for implementation of power purchase agreements, lease agreements and any necessary corporate
structuring.
- Ground Source Heat Pumps
Provided financial analysis and engineering conceptual design to East Stroudsberg University, Arcadia University, Bensalem
Township, IRS building in Massachusetts, Lower Merion Township and private Academy in NJ.
- LEED Consulting, Building Modeling
Provided LEED consulting services for private academy in NJ, Carpenter’s Union in DE, Bensalem Municipal Building
in PA and other locations. Services including DOE building modeling, management of all mechanical, electrical
and plumbing prerequisites and credits and submittals to the USGBC.
- Biomass Energy
Provided financial and engineering detailed proforma modeling and project finance support for 50 MW poultry litter
fueled power plant in Minnesota. Created US subsidiary of Danish anaerobic digestion technology firm and was
responsible for US business management and project development including all proforma modeling, presentations
and articles.
- Alternative Fuel Study
Prepared Alternative Fuel Studies for Delaware River Port Authority to provide recommendations for conversion of
their fleet to alternative fuels. Work included technology reviews, estimated pricing and financial evaluations. Prepared
Alternative Fuel Study for SCI Graterford prison for converting from coal to natural gas.
- Technology Due Diligence
Provided engineering and financial due diligence and invested mezzanine debt in Aircuity, Inc., a unique Indoor
Environmental Quality control provider for demand controlled ventilation.. Provided engineering and financial due
diligence and invested equity and mezzanine debt in Encelium, Inc., an advanced lighting controls company. Provided
engineering and financial due diligence and invested equity in Connected Energy Corp., a remote management and
control company specializing in the distributed generation industry.
